My Brother Who is an archaeologist is partly responsible for this painting. He was showing me some photo's of things similar to this. I was intrigued by the mysteriousness of then. From a distance they look almost man made, that is until you get closer and their real nature is revealed.

Yes another tree, Majestic aren't they, especially in winter when they have lost their leaves so the complex structure is evident. Every morning this scene greets me with the sun rising low behind this group of trees, It never fails to fill me with wonderment. Nature is truly beautiful.

This scene was a pleasure to paint. With the sun showing through the mist blowing across in front of it, the mist rising from the water on what proved to a very warm morning; created a mysterious feel to the trees before me, which being tall added to the overall feeling of Pease and quiet.

Here I created the afterglow of a strong sunset in early July; the air was muggy with the heat creating mist rising from the water. The overall colour combination suggests cold having used ultramarine blue with varying combinations of alizarin crimson, yet keeping the warmth and heat of the late evening sunset.
