I like trees and this was the perfect opportunity to capture a beautiful
Cold Late winter morning with the sun casting shadows which ended suddenly just where the mists started. Though this is really a sketch, I like it.

This scene was captured on CCD while my wife and I were walking our little dog (called Lady) at the end of the path the sun light turned every thing hazy with a warm glow while strong shadows were cast across the path in the true direction of the sun. It was a beautiful morning.
This was painted from a photograph, taken while on holiday. We were walking along while quite unexpectedly a very large storm approached us, the sun still lit up the sands and pier in the distance creating a weird sort of unfolding scene before us. Needless to say, eventually we got drenched through. Despite the sogginess, it was still quite invigorating.

My first Holiday without my parents was on the Norfolk Broads with a friend; we were 18 at the time and had rented a Broads cruiser. One day whilst cruising very early in the morning along a reed lined river we turned a bend to be confronted with this windmill emerging from the fog, for all it was just like a Darleck which were all the rage in those days. A photo was taken which in later years was used as a base for this painting.

Info:
This painting though lit by moonlight looks as if it is in the daytime. The use of cool grey colours and the mist rising from the lake, obscuring the distant tree line helps to suggest this. I thoroughly enjoyed painting this scene.
